“I’ve never gone to theatres to see any of the films I’ve composed music for,” began the composer. However, Karthik Thangavel and Jayam Ravi, the director and star of the film compelled him to come along for a visit to a theatre in Madurai. “There were huge crowds and congestion in Madurai. The police were there to control the crowds. In the confusion, I got hit by one of the policemen who thought I was also a member of the audience.”

Karthik Thangavel shed more light into the incident. Taking a light hearted approach, he said, “Yes, I saw Sam CS getting a hit. I watched it happen but didn’t stop it immediately. Later I went to the police and said he was the music director of the film.”

“Calling it an ‘experience’, Sam took it in his stride,” the director added. The director also said that during this visit, he became privy to the experiences of a lot of women who were able to relate with the movie.

“Taking into consideration Jayam Ravi’s family audiences, I had toned down the violence in the film under his request. But the feedback I recieved from women showed that they were left wanting for more.” He promised that his next movie would be a hard-hitting one.

The director also thanked the media for helping the movie by giving it the coverage it deserved. “I thank the press and the audience for supporting the film, despite some gaps in the logic. When we were making the film, I knew there were some gaps. But ‘Chief’ (Jayam Ravi) said sometimes there is magic and not logic. And true enough, the press and the people didn’t take the gaps into account and promoted the film as something beyond the commercial values.”

Adanga Maru, directed by debutant Karthik Thangavel has been produced by Sujatha Vijaykumar under the banner of Home Movie Pictures. Talking about the director, Sujatha said that he hadn’t stopped coming to her office despite the movie’s release and having done well. “Karthik has already narrated me a good story and it will surely happen once we are done with our current commitments,” she said.

Meanwhile, Thangavel has already announced his next project with Prince Projects.

The director also used the occasion to thank his lead actor Jayam Ravi. Referring to the actor as ‘Chief”, he said that though he narrated his second project to him, the actor suggested that he do a film of a different genre for his next film and then come back to him.

Corroborating this story, Jayam Ravi said that he would be pairing up with the director in the near future. Recalling his first meeting with the director, Ravi said “I happened to meet Karthik for the first time during the shoot of Ameer’s Aadhi Bhagavan. The shoot had been going for a really long time by then.” The actor claims that the shoot picked up speed as soon as Karthik Thangavel joined the team and that the director played a huge part in helping the shoot wrap in within a month a half. “This is how I gained confidence in him,” he added.

“I have always had a special affinity for media and press, but developed a huge respect for them after making Thani Oruvan a good hit. I feel so much happy about the way they have brought a golden touch to this film,” said the actor.

Raashi Khanna who plays the female lead said that out of all the movies, her performance in Adanga Maaru has been the most well-received one.

Apart from the actors Mathew Varghese, Mime Gopi and Azhagam Perumal who were present at the event, the technical crew comprising of music director Sam.C.S and editor Ruben also spoke at the function.
