Upcoming multilingual period drama Adipurush, starring Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan, is set to release in theatres on August 11, 2022, the makers of the film announced on social media on Thursday.
Sharing a poster of the film on Instagram, actor Prabhas confirmed that the film will have a theatrical release on August 11, 2022.
The film is helmed by Om Raut and will release simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Touted to be an action drama, the magnum opus will be a 3D feature film and is supposed to be based on the Sanskrit epic Ramayana.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, based on the posters released by the makers, it was revealed that Prabhas would be playing the role of Adipurush, based on Ram. Khan will be playing the antagonist’s role of Lankesh, based on Raavan.
Earlier in September, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan had shared the poster of the film introducing Khan.

The filmmakers have not yet confirmed who will be playing the role of Sita. Reportedly, Keerty Suresh, Anushka Shetty, and Kriti Sanon are being considered for the role.

Adipurush will be Prabhas and Bhushan Kumar’s third film together after Saaho and Radhe Shyam. The mythological drama will mark the first collaboration between Raut and Prabhas.
Raut has previously worked with Khan in the Hindi historical action film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which released earlier this year. Khan had played the role of Aurangzeb’s royal guard. He was last seen in the Hindi film Jawaani Jaaneman (featuring Alaya F and Tabu in a cameo role), which released this January. He had a cameo role in late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara, which released this year in July.
