After the enormously successful Vikram Vedha, R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath will be seen in a romantic drama titled Maara, which is being directed by Dhilip Kumar, who made the well-received short film Kalki.

“I directed Kalki, which was produced by Pramod Films. They put me in touch with Madhavan. We first met in Chennai, and I narrated the story to him. It’s not because of Vikram Vedha that we’re bringing them together, but because I felt Shraddha will be apt for the role,” Dhilip Kumar told Cinema Express.

The director also added that Madhavan will be seen in a romantic drama after a long time. While in Tanu Weds Manu, he played a passive good-natured guy, in this film he will be a total charmer. “There’s a 10-year difference between Madhavan and Shraddha in the story, but it is not dwelt on much,” he added.

Neelan, who wrote Samantha Akkineni’s segment in Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe, is penning the dialogues in Maara. Dhilip has jointly written the screenplay of the film along with Bipin and the music is being composed by Ghibran.

The shooting for the film will start in Chennai at the end of the month and the makers will head to Puducherry next as they are planning to finish the production in 45 days.
