According to the press release, the Devgn and Dil Raju have acquired the Hindi remake rights of the 2021 Telugu hit film. The remake will be produced under the banners Ajay Devgn FFilms, Dil Raju Productions, Kuldeep Rathore and Parag Desai’s Mumbai Talkeez.

Naandhi, the crime courtroom drama film directed by debutant Vijay Kanakamedala, was produced by Satish Vegesna. The film starring Allari Naresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Priyadarshi, Harish Uthaman and  Vinay Varma was released on February 19.

According to IMDB, the story revolves around under-trial prisoners who languish in jails while awaiting a judgement and the film follows Surya Prakash, who gets caught in a similar situation while being on trial for the murder of a powerful man.

Devgn, in the press statement, said, “Naandhi is an important film exposing certain loopholes in the administration. The original Telugu version was effective and touched a raw nerve. Dil Raju and I have decided to join hands in remaking this film in Hindi to reach out to a larger audience. These are early days. The script is being finalised. Once we have the cast and key talent in place, I may be able to say more.”

Reiterating that Naandhi is made on a “very important topic”, Dil Raju added that they are keen to take this story to a larger audience. “We are in the preliminary stage of the film and will soon share more details,” he said.

The press statement also noted that the producers are currently in the process of finalising the director and the star cast.
