Director Ajay Gnanamuthu of Imaikkaa Nodigal fame has announced his next film with actor Vikram, and the first look poster has been released. The film is speculated to be an action thriller.
Tentatively titled Vikram 58, the poster features Vikram in many looks, and has a background of maps, sketches, photography, comic strips and papers with scientific formulae. The director said, “It’s like a dream come true for me to direct one of the best artistes we have.”

The makers – Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio and Viacom 18 Motion Studios – announced that pre-production work was on and the shoot would begin in August. “This is a pan-India project catering to the Tamil, Hindi and Telugu audience, and will be produced on a massive scale, in association with Viacom 18 Motion Studios. The cast and technicians’ list will feature big names from all industries,” they said in a statement.
According to various reports, Anurag Kashyap may be seen as the antagonist in the film. He previously starred in the director’s Imaikkaa Nodigal, along with Nayanthara, Atharvaa and others. This is the director’s third film after Demonte Colony (2015) and Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018).
Speculations about the film began doing the rounds in 2016, but later died down. In December last year, the director told Silverscreen that talks with Vikram were on. The film was earlier expected to begin in June. The rest of the cast and crew is being finalised.
Vikram is currently awaiting the release of Kadaram Kondan, directed by Rajesh M Selva under Kamal Haasan’s production Raaj Kamal Films International. The film stars Vikram and Akshara Haasan as the lead pair. Vikram also has the big-budget project Mahavir Karna by RS Vimal in the pipeline. Reports are that this film will have an ensemble cast with stars from India and abroad. He’s also expecting the release of the Gautham Menon directorial Dhruva Natchathiram, a spy thriller co-starring Simran, R Parthiban, Aishwarya Rajessh and Ritu Varma.
