Sivakarthikeyan, Ajith Kumar, Vijay & Goundamani Visit M Karunanidhi At Kauvery Hospital

It’s been six days since DMK President M Karunanidhi was admitted to Chennai’s Kavery Hospital. In the past few days, he’s had a host of visitors, including Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Kamal Haasan, Sivakumar and his son, Suriya. Actors Ajith Kumar, Vijay and Goundamani went to the hospital separately on Wednesday and interacted with Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin and grandson Udhaynidhi.

While on Thursday actor Sivakarthikeyan visited the hospital to enquire about M Karunanidhi’s health to MK Stalin and Kanimozhi.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rajinikanth, who was in Darjeeling shooting for Karthik Subbaraj’s film, visited the hospital immediately after landing in Chennai. He told reporters outside, “I got to know about Karunanidhi’s health condition from Stalin, Kanimozhi and Azhagiri. He is a senior leader in Indian politics. I pray to God for his speedy recovery.”

On the same day, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi met the leader, and said he was glad to see that Karunanidhi was recovering well. “I met him, he is fine and stable. I am quite happy to see that he is doing well.”

Other film personalities like lyricist Vairamuthu, actor Suriya, Sivakumar and Sarathkumar also visited the hospital.

As per the latest medical bulletin issued by the hospital, Karunanidhi will continue to remain in the hospital. The bulletin said, “Although there has been a resolution of the condition which led to his hospital admission, an extended period of hospitalisation will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in his general health, altered liver function and haematological parameters.”

Last week, a press release issued by the hospital said that Karunanidhi’s health witnessed a slight decline due to age-related ailments. The statement went on to say that he had fever due to urinary tract infection and was being treated with intravenous antibiotics and fluids. Later on Saturday night at around 1.30 am, he was brought to the hospital after his blood pressure dropped. His blood pressure has since been stabilised and he continues to be monitored and treated by a panel of expert doctors.
