Telugu actor Akhil Akkineni has officially begun work on his latest film.
The movie was launched at Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad, on Sunday evening, with Akhil’s parents – Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni – and his brother Naga Chaitanya in attendance. It marks the second time that Akhil is collaborating with director Vikram Kumar, the first being the actor’s debut film Manam (2015).
The female lead is yet to be revealed – but a few days ago, it was speculated that Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is in talks with the team.

The yet-untitled film, said to feature sci-fi elements, is being bankrolled by Nagarjuna and Mana Enterprises. The director has reportedly said that the film will be a commercial one too.
The technical team includes music director Anup and cinematographer PS Vinod.
While it’s being speculated that the title could be Junnu or Ekkada Ekkada Undo Taaraka, the final choice is yet to be revealed.
Akhil’s last film in a lead role was Akhil-The Power Of Jua released in 2015. Produced jointly by actor Niithin and his father Sudhakar Reddy under their banner – Sresht Films, the film had Sayyesha Saigal as the female lead, with music composed by Anup Rubens. A fantasy directed by VV Vinayak, Akhil fought with tigers, dons and assorted foreign villains in a bid to rescue Earth from destruction. The film failed to impress critics, but still won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut that year.
