Actor Nagarjuna’s youngest son Akhil, who is awaiting the release of his debut film Akhil, says he misses his grandfather Nageswara Rao, and wishes that he was there to see him as a film hero. In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, he said, “I wish my grandfather was here to see my step into a new phase of my career.” In honour of the late legendary actor, the filmmakers plan to unveil the audio of the film on September 20, Nageswara Rao’s birthday. “We are releasing the music in honour of my grandfather. It’s going to be a special occasion,” said Akhil. Directed by VV Vinayak, the film also stars debutante Sayyeshaa, and is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 21 during the week of the Dussehra festival. The film will be competing at the box office with Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan’s film. The distribution rights for Akhil have reportedly been sold for a record price for a film starring debutants.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao (1923-2014) was a celebrated figure in the Telugu film industry, with over 255 films in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. He is the recipient of four state Nandi Awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke award, and the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award.
