While only a few film industries (like Malayalam and Kannada) have been permitted to commence shoot owing to reducing coronavirus cases, Bollywood and Kollywood still seem to be under lockdown guidelines without any concessions. Making use of the hiatus, Bollywood producers especially, are charting out schedules for their films with the hope that they will be allowed to shoot at least by September-October.

Folllwing the crews of films like BellbottomLooop Lapetaand Shabaash Mithu, the latest to plan out their schedule are the makers of Akshay KumarDhanushSara Ali Khan starrer Atrangi Re. Helmed by Tanu Weds Manu and Zero fame director Aanand L Rai, the film which commenced shoot in March had to stall work owing to the nationwide lockdown. The team has now planned a three-month schedule commencing in October in Madurai followed by schedules in Delhi and Mumbai, reports Mumbai Mirror.

The film is being bankrolled by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar’s T Series, Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions Pvt Ltd, and Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films.

Atrangi Re will reportedly see no compromise in terms of schedules or locations and will be shot both indoor and outdoor as per the original plan. Although, the makers say, strict safety measures and guidelines laid down by the governments will be followed by all members on set inclusive of crew isolation that is imperative.

While Sara and Dhanush shoot in Madurai, Akshay Kumar will join the sets in Delhi and Mumbai for about a month. Aanand reportedly plans to wrap up the shoot by the end of the year if things go according to plan.

“We will be filming outdoors, but it’s going to be a very organised shoot. Everyone is aware of the risk involved in not following prescribed guidelines and we will try to wrap up in the minimum time possible,” Aanand said to Mumbai Mirror.

According to reports, the film will see both the lead actors romancing Sara parallelly but in different eras. Sara is believed to hail from Bihar and Dhanush from Madurai. The non-linear narrative will reportedly talk about how love is perceived in the North and South.

While the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced, AR Rahman will be composing for the film written by National Award-winning writer Himanshu Sharma. Cinematographer Pankaj Kumar is handling the camera for Atrangi Re and Irshad Kamil will be penning the lyrics.
