Allu Sirish Gets A taste Of World Cinema At Cannes

The Telugu film industry had its own little representation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in the form of Allu Sirish. The actor recently travelled to the French Riviera and got an opportunity to hobnob with some of the well-known names from Indian as well as international cinema.

Sirish was part of seminars organised by the Information &Broadcasting Ministry of India, FICCI and India Pavilion. “I realized how big world cinema is, beyond our Indian films. I watched movies from all over the world. Even within India, we are so unaware of the other regional film industries,” he shares, adding that he made many friends who he hopes to be in touch with.

“I made many friends other than filmmakers. A Chinese stylist, a French perfume marker, movie lovers from Morocco, France and Argentina,” he said.

Interestingly, Sirish brings to light one important point of how fashion has been casting a shadow on the real purpose of the film festival. “The red carpet, glamour and parties overshadow the art and millions of dollars of commerce that happens at Cannes during this time. Though I went on the red carpet and parties myself, I was more interested in the movies there,” he says.
