Amala Paul Denies Tax Evasion Charges, Seeks Anticipatory Bail

Amala Paul At The Bhaskar Oru Rascal Audio Launch

Actress Amala Paul has reportedly stated that she has not evaded any tax in the case involving the purchase of a luxury car from Bengaluru but getting it registered in Puducherry. According to The Times of India, the Mercedes Benz car is registered at the address of a rented house at Puducherry, and the car is mainly used there and Bengaluru, and not when she visits her home in Kerala.

The actress has promptly pointed out in her petition that she stays in Puducherry whenever she visits. Her petition is seeking anticipatory bail in the case registered by Thiruvananthapuram unit of crime branch police alleging tax evasion.

In October, it was reported that the actress saved from paying Rs 20 lakhs as tax for her recently purchased Mercedes S class worth more than Rs 1 crore. It was also alleged that the car was registered in the name of an engineering student who has no clue about the registration.

Last month, Amala clarified these claims saying that she’s in an Indian citizen and has the right to ‘own any asset through out our nation freely’.
