Speaking to Silverscreendirector Rathna Kumar said about the film, “It has twists and turns that will keep the audience enthralled. The relevance of the title will be explained in the coming weeks. The film deals with the boundaries we set for ourselves, and what happens when they are crossed.”

A press release that followed said that while previous generations were pampered and spoilt by the culture of complementary services and products, free data spoils this generation. “Aadai will depict these realities… The role that Amala Paul is essaying demands a lot of physical and mental strength… this role will be a game-changer in her career.”

Pradeep Kumar’s band Oorka is composing music for the film. Vijay Kartik Kannan, of Iravaakaalam fame, is the cinematographer. The film is produced by V Productions.

In the first look poster released by director Venkat Prabhu in September, Amala Paul was seen cowering in fright from something. The title, Aadai, was accompanied by the words – Audacious, Arrogant, Artistic. It created an impression that the movie could well be a cautionary tale. “But, it is a cautionary tale we all need. Society has evolved to the point where such discussions do need to take place. Otherwise, this very important question will always go unanswered. We need a debate,” the director said.

On the work front, Amala Paul will next be seen in Adho Andha Paravai Pola, an action-adventure thriller directed by debutant Vinoth KR. She also has the Malayalam film Aadujeevitham, directed by Blessy, which is based on a novel of the same name. Both the films are under production.

Aadai is expected to release soon this year.
