Actress Nivetha Pethuraj has been cast as the female lead in Tik Tik Tik. The actress took to her official Twitter account to announce the news. She also thanked her co-star Jayam Ravi, and her director Shakti Soundar Rajan for the opportunity.

The actress was reportedly roped in for the role because of her martial arts skills. Director Shakti Soundar Rajan told Silverscreen in an interview that he considered Nivetha for the role once he heard of her amazing ‘fitness level’. “The role in this film requires the highest levels of fitness, and once I heard about Nivetha’s experience with martial arts, we began considering her seriously for the part. She has a meaty role in this movie, and while it is too early to discuss details, I am very confident that she will do her job very well,” he said.
Tik Tik Tik will also have another female lead in it. Nivetha will be acting alongside Jayam Ravi in this film. Said to be India’s first space film, the thriller is expected to make use of special effects to tell a ‘unique story’. According to the film’s director Shakti Soundar Rajan, the team will begin filming in a few weeks time.

Nivetha made her Tamil debut as one of the leads in Nelson’s Oru Naal Koothu, and received much acclaim for her performance. It looks like her performance didn’t go unnoticed as she was offered many roles following the film’s release. The actress has been cast as the female lead in Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam, opposite Udhayanidhi Stalin. She will begin filming for it next month.
