Amazon Studios Executive Roy Price Resigns After Complaints Of Sexual Misconduct Surface

Less than a week after Amazon suspended the head of its entertainment studio, Roy Price, following allegations of him sexually harassing a producer in 2015, reports now confirm that the executive has officially resigned from his position.

According to The LA Times, an Amazon Studios representative confirmed the resignation. Isa Hackett, an executive producer in the Amazon drama series The Man in the High Castle, alleged that Price had passed lewd comments and made unwanted advances towards her in 2015.

Speaking about his resignation, she said in a statement: “An important conversation has begun about the need to create a culture in our industry which values respect and decency and rejects the abuse of power and dehumanising treatment of others. This is truly an opportunity to find a better way forward, and ultimately toward a balanced representation of women and minorities in leadership positions.”

The incidents took place in a cab and at a company party in San Diego following an appearance at a comic-con two years ago. Hackett had reported the incident to Amazon executives, who then engaged an outside investigator to look into her claim. The findings haven’t been disclosed.

Price was also facing criticism for his close business ties with movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who is already facing a string of similar allegations.
