The yet-to-be-titled film will be backed by actor Jayam Ravi’s mother-in-law Sujataa Vijay Kumar under the production banner Home Movie Makers. The film marks Bobby’s directorial debut. He has earlier worked in films such as Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Kalakalappu, Saguni, among others as a choreographer.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Bobby said about Andrea’s film, “It is a crime drama murder mystery, and we have tried to incorporate a different narration style and play. We have adopted a non-linear screenplay and it will focus on an issue surrounding women. If a similar crime happens again, there is a tendency to not take it seriously and to dismiss it. A crime done at any time is wrong. This film will talk about that.”

Bobby said that he was working on the script for the film for the past six years and worked on specifically the narration and screenplay for the last two years.

Speaking about his transition from choreographer to filmmaker, he said, “In films that I have worked as a choreographer, be it Vaagai Sooda Vaa, or Kalakalappu, the songs were more content-driven, which means it infused the story along with it in form of montages, rather than just dance sequences. That piqued interest in me about telling stories. At the same time, I also had an aspiration to direct and become a writer during the early stages of my career. When I got this storyline, I paused choreography for a while and worked on story writing for a few years.”

Apart from Andrea, the film will also feature Asha Sharath of Papanasam fame, Kaali Venkat, Santhosh Prathap, Bala Saravanan in pivotal roles. Bobby will also be taking care of the choreography of the film, which he revealed will be mainly montages.

The film will be shot by cinematographer Akhil George, with music composed by Ron Ethan Yohan. The team is shooting in Chennai and looking to complete in a single schedule and finish by November end. The makers are yet to decide on the release of the film.
