The team for Vijay-starrer Thalapathy 64 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is being finalised. It has been reported that Anirudh Ravichander may be on board for music, Sathyan Sooryan for cinematography and Philomin Raj for editing. A picture of Vijay with producer Xavier Britto circulating on social media has led to speculation that he is the producer of the film.
Vijay’s manager Jegadish has joined as the line producer of the film. He confirmed this to Silverscreen, and also denied the other speculations as rumours. “The photo circulating on social media was not taken for Thalapathy 64. The one with producer Xavier was a birthday get-together. We would’ve made an official announcement otherwise. As for the rest of the team, they are people who have worked with the producer and director before, and this has led to the speculations,” he said.
Some reports also said that talks were on with Samantha and Keerthy Suresh for the lead, but Jegadish confirmed this was false news. “By this month end, things will get finalised, after which we will make the announcements,” he said.

As reported earlier, Rashmika Mandanna may be in talks for the female lead. Similar reports circulated last year too when the cast of Thalapathy 63 was being finalised. She had clarified on Twitter this was false news, but said she would like work with Vijay in the future, and also make her Tamil debut soon. She is currently gearing up for the release of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi co-starring Karthi.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s fans are awaiting his birthday on June 22. It is expected that the first-look poster will also release then. Director Atlee, Vijay, Nayanthara and the Thalapathy 63 team are completing the final 70-day schedule in Chennai that began last month.
The film is an investigative thriller and stars Vijay as the captain of a football team. Varsha Bolamma, Indhuja, Kathir, Jackie Shroff, Vivekh and Yogi Babu play important roles. AR Rahman is the music composer and Vivek the lyricist. The film is scheduled to release during Deepavali this year.
