Anjaan has has released in over four hundred theatres in Tamil Nadu and has seen almost ninety percent occupancy rate in Chennai screens alone. The makers have revealed that the film has collected 11.5 Crores in Tamil Nadu alone on its opening day. According to trade analysts, the film has got a ‘phenomenal start’ abroad too, raking in 22.82 lakhs from Australia, 64.71 lakhs from the US and 41.6 lakhs from the United Kingdom. Aggressive marketing and a long weekend seems to have worked in the film’s favour as afar as the initial reports go.
On the critics front though, film garnered its fair share of negative reviews as well, and it is expected that it will affect its earnings from next week.
Starring Suriya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vidyut Jammwal and Dalip Tahil, the film is the tale of a Chennai born gangster who rules the Mumbai underworld.
