Actress Anjali is reportedly in talks with director Krishnan Jayaraj and KJR Studios for her next, a comedy entertainer.

Sources say that a confirmation on the film cannot be given as yet. Director Krishnan is famous for his first movie Sonna Puriyadhu, a comedy entertainer starring Mirchi Shiva and Vasundhara in the lead. His upcoming film is likely to be Anjali’s first full-fledged comedy after many horror films, starting from Geethanjali in Telugu which released in 2014, and films like Chitrangada, Balloon and Lisaa 3D that released recently.

Anjali has acted in Tamil and Telugu films and is known for playing performance-oriented roles. She made her debut with the Telugu film Photo in 2006, before bagging a lead role in Kattradhu Thamizh with Jiiva. She has also acted in movies like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Iraivi, and director Ram’s Taramani and Peranbu.

The actress recently completed shoot for Samuthirakani’s Nadodigal 2, co-starring Sasikumar, Bharani, Athulya Ravi, MS Bhaskar, Namo Narayanan, Tulasi, Sri Ranjani. The film was scheduled to release in February this year but faced delays.

The movie is a sequel to Nadodigal (2009), a film about a group of friends who fight odds to help a couple elope. It became a super-hit, and a sequel was announced in January 2018. The director reportedly said that the sequel has no connection to the earlier film, but friendship and love will be a repeating theme. Anjali’s character in the film is said to be inspired by Sengodi, who died protesting the death sentences given to Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination convicts. Sasikumar’s role is inspired by social reformer Jeevanandam.

While the release of Nadodigal 2 is awaited, Samuthirakani announced his next movie with Sasikumar, Anjali and the Nadodigal team. Anjali is also gearing up for this month’s release Sindhubaadh, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi. The film is directed by SU Arunkumar and stars Vivek Prasanna and Linga in important roles.
