A source close to the film confirmed that the remake was on to Indian Express, “Pari is being remade in Tamil. Quality horror stories work in this market and the producers here have loved Pari. The offer on the table is a big one too. An announcement is expected to happen as soon as the deal is locked. It is a huge success for Anushka.”

No official statement on the Tamil remake is out yet. The director and producers for the film are also yet to be announced. According to reports, the producers will soon approach Anushka Sharma in Mumbai.

The Hindi film released on March 2 during Holi last year, and earned Rs 28 crores at the box-office. It was a horror film after a long gap in Bollywood. When Anushka was first approached with the script, she was reportedly very impressed so she decided to also produce it under her banner Clean Slate Films.

The story, written by Abhishek Banerjee and Prosit Roy, is set in Kolkata and stars Anushka Sharma and Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead. Mansi Multani, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Rajat Kapoor played supporting roles. The songs were by Anupam Roy, cinematography by Jishnu Bhattacharjee.

The film also released in Russia on April 19 to a good opening, making it the first Bollywood film with a female lead to release abroad. This was Anushka’s third project as an actor and producer. Last year she also acted in Sui Dhaaga and Zero and played an extended cameo in Sanju. She revealed in an interview recently that the last three years have been hectic with acting projects, so this year she will be focusing on producing more movies.
