Appu Kutty Plays A Farmer In ‘Vaazhga Vivasaayi’

Actor Appu will join the brigade of actors fighting for the farmers’ cause in an upcoming movie. Director PL Ponni Mohan told Silverscreen that the film titled Vaazhga Vivasaayi focuses on the lives of people who lived like the old adage – ‘Vaadiya Payirai Kanda Podhellam Vaadinen’ (I withered a little every time I saw a barren field).

“Farmers have an intensely emotional connect with the farmlands they plough. If it prospers, they are happy. If it dies, they are devastated. I wanted to explore the emotions of these soft-hearted people whose livelihood is so intrinsically connected to the land in a way that ours are not”

The decision to cast Appu kutty in the lead role was an obvious one, said Mohan. “We could not envision anyone else in that role. He is a great performer who taps into himself to bring out the best acting. That is a rare feat in an age where people don’t go that extra mile to make sure that the director’s dream characters are made as authentic as possible,” he said.

The first-look of the movie was launched by Sasikumar recently. Mohan said that Sasikumar was all praise for the team and said that he really looked forward to seeing it onscreen.

Vasundhara is essaying the female lead role that will see her in an unglamorous avatar. “She didn’t think twice before taking such a huge decision. She just slipped into the character of a villager, a farmer’s wife. You will see her in her finest in Vaazhga Vivasaayi.”

The movie will release later this year.
