Arrtham, an upcoming Tamil film featuring actor Master Mahendran in the lead role, is to be a psychological thriller, the director of the film Manikanth Thallaguti tells Silverscreen India.
A musical teaser was released by the makers on social media on Tuesday. The musical rights have been bagged by Tips Films & Music.
Produced by Radhika Srinivas, the film will also release in other languages and has been titled Arrdham in Telugu, Arrtha in Kannada, and Ydharan in Malayalam.
“We will be dubbing the film in Malayalam and Kannada; it has been shot in Tamil and Telugu,” says the director.
On the film’s plot, Thallaguti, who has also written the script, says, “The film follows Maya, a psychiatrist who comes across some news about a homicide. She believes that one of her patients, Vaitaran, who is suffering from rare skin disease is involved in the murder. How she treats him and solves the murder mystery, is the rest of the story. The title translates to ‘meaning’ and the film looks into how a certain character does not understand the meaning of family emotions,”
Thallguti, who is an editor and VFX artist, has turned director for this film. “I had started to write the script in 2020 during the lockdown. The film went on floors in November that year and was wrapped up in October 2021,” the filmmaker adds. 70% of Arrtham was shot in Chennai and the rest was filmed in Hyderabad. Cinematographer Pavan Chenna handled the camera work.
Harshavardhan Rameshwar has composed the music for the film, which features five songs. “One of the songs will be sung by KS Chitra,” mentions Thallaguti.
Arrtham is currently in the post-production stage. The mode of its release and premiere date are yet to be decided by the makers.
