The film will be produced by Muruganantham under the banner Rockfort Entertainment.

“We have collaborated with the director on the first copy basis where an amount would be paid in return for a film. The agreement was done about four to five months back. Subsequently, he has completed filming during the in-between period. The film is in its post-production phase now. We did not announce the film earlier and thought we will announce later, towards the end of the making of the film, and design our publicity in a similar way,” Muruganantham told Silverscreen India.

He said Venkat would complete the “first copy” within 20 days.

Speaking about the film’s genre, Muruganantham said, “The film is in the comedy genre. It will have fun elements and will be a typical Venkat Prabhu film with commercial aspects to it. He came up with a simple storyline. In 2010, a man would get caught by his father for bringing home a girl; but in 2020, a man gets caught by his wife for bringing a girl. The film is developed with this content.”

The film features three female lead actors- Smruthi Venkat, Samyuktha Hegde, and Riya Suman.

The film’s music is composed by Venkat Prabhu’s brother, comedian, and music director Premgi Amaren, the producer said.

Muruganantham said that the film’s release date is yet to be fixed. “We are looking to release the film maybe a month after the Covid-19 pandemic situation eases and lockdown restrictions are relaxed. It is a film that has to be watched in theatres, so we are trying to release it on big screens. But, if we find good prices with OTT platforms, we may opt for it. Nothing is confirmed as of now. I am opting for theatre releases for my other films too, Kuruthi Aattam and Pisasu 2.”

The producer said that the film’s title would be announced after a few “permission” formalities were completed. He added that the film was pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.

“About 10-20% of post-production work is left,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Venkat is currently directing the upcoming action thriller Maanaadu, starring Silambarasan and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead. The film is in the last stages of production. The filmmaker last directed Live Telecast, a horror web series for Disney+ Hotstar.
