Bookings for the three major Pongal releases – Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, Sketch, Gulaebaghavali – have already started. While Suriya, Vikram and Prabhu Deva battle it out in the box office, getting those show tickets might not be easy. For all the homebodies, or those who can’t secure tickets, there are quite a few choices as well. Some of the latest movies will be aired on television and are also available on digital platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Aruvi
Aruvi, touted to be one of the best Tamil films of 2017, will soon be available on Amazon Prime. Directed by debutant Arun Prabu Purushothaman, the film stars Aditi Balan in the titular role, and is bankrolled by SR Prabhu’s Dream Warrior Pictures.
The story revolves around a young 25-year-old woman who goes on a reality show and attempts to clarify a misunderstanding that takes a totally unexpected path. The film has received massive praises from all the major members of the film industry, including Rajinikanth, director Shankar Shanmugham, actor Jayam Ravi, and many others.

Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, starring Karthi, which was a critical and a box office hit is also available on Amazon Prime.
Aval
Aval, which released in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, stars Siddharth, Andrea Jeremiah, Atul Kulkarni and is directed by Milind Rau. It has the perfect setting for a horror film – an eerie house, a paranormal investigator, lonely nights, possessed girl, scary events.

Aramm
Aramm, a political drama, has Nayanthara playing the righteous collector in this film that revolves around water crisis in a remote village. Nayanthara, as the collector, tries to fight for the people, and against a corrupt government, which incidentally, she is a part of. The film, directed by Gopi Nainar, will be aired on Sun TV.

Mersal
Mersal is an action entertainer, directed by Atlee and has a star cast of Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, Vadivelu, and S J Suryah. With music by AR Rahman, it has the distinction of being Thenandal Film’s 100th project. The film will be aired on Zee Tamil.
