SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali, which released amidst much fanfare on Friday, has grossed Rs 60 crore worldwide on the first day, making it the best opening ever for a south Indian film. In India, it collected Rs 50 crore from all versions (Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi), according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Overseas, the film broke Aamir Khan’s PK records by raking in over $ 1 million from Thursday premier shows. At this rate, the film is likely to enter the Rs 100 crore club by the weekend and may even emerge as the fastest film to achieve that feat.

Tipped to be the most expensive Indian film, it narrates the story of two brothers at war over an ancient kingdom. It features Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Nasser and Ramya Krishnan in important roles.
