Actor Bharani of Naadodigal and Bigg Boss fame has signed up for a film titled Kuchchi Ice, written and directed Jayaprakash, a former assistant of Bharathiraja. Newcomer Rathika will star opposite him.
Speaking about Kuchci Ice, Jaya Prakash said in a press statement that the “movie deals with the repercussions of globalisation among simple rural people”, and has been narrated with a lot of soul. Kuchchi Ice is Jayaprakash’s third film after Saadhi Sanam and Kaadhal FM.
Talks are on with prominent actors for the supporting roles, the director said. The shoot began recently in Erode. The cinematography is by Palani, and the film is produced by Jayabalan under the banner of Thirumalai Cine.
Bharani, who made his acting debut as a supporting character in Balaji Sakthivel’s 2007 film Kalloori, later became famous through Samuthirakani’s Nadodigal that same year. He featured as a Madurai-based youngster who is friends with Sasikumar and Vijay Vasanth. He also played important roles in Thoonga Nagaram (2011) and Netru Indru (2014).
His participation in Bigg Boss in 2017 created quite a stir when he was asked to leave the show for trying to escape from the Bigg Boss house. He got many advertising offers after that, and also acted in Panam Pathinnonum Seiyum, Bayama Irukku, Kannakol and Pottu. The sequel of Nadodigal, starring Sasikumar and Anjali in the lead, is currently under production.
Nadodigal 2 was announced by Samuthirakani in January 2018. The shoot began in March last year. Samuthirakani said that the sequel would be similar to the first part but with a different story line. Bharani and Namo Narayana, who were part of Nadodigal, have joined the cast.
The sequel was earlier expected to be released during Deepavali 2018, but was postponed due to the tight box office schedule. Music for the film is scored by Justin Prabhakaran; he replaced Sundar C Babu who was music director for the first part.
