Bharath Reddy To Star In Bayam Oru Payanam; Says Supernatural Experiences Resonate

Debutant director Manisharma’s Bayam Oru Payanam, a horror film, will star Bharath Reddy. Formerly a doctor, Bharath Reddy has played supporting roles in films like Unnaipol Oruvan, Thozha, and Ko 2, This will be his first leading role. Speaking to Silverscreen.in, Bharath said, “I play a journalist who becomes a freelance photographer due to certain issues. My character happens to be in a forest when supernatural events begin to unfold.”

The film is being produced by S Durai and S Shanmugam under the banner Octospider Production. Vishakha Singh and Meenakshi Dixit play the female leads. The supporting cast includes Urvashi, Singam Puli, John Vijay, Munish Kanth, Yogi Babu, and Lollu Sabha Manohar.

During the film’s press release, Bharath Reddy said the theme of the supernatural in the story had resonated with his own experiences as a practicing in Hyderabad. When asked to elaborate, Bharath said, “While discussing the story of the film, I realised that my character experiences certain illusions, or hallucinations. The dilemma that the character undergoes, as he oscillates between reality and illusion forms the story. As a doctor, there have been times when I lost a patient. Not just me, every doctor is affected by a loss like that. At times, I have hit the bed after a day like that, and dreamed I was conversing with the patient. Or felt like I rescued them in my dream. That’s why I could relate to the story, and my character.”

“There are no comedy tracks in the film. This will be a 100% horror film, unlike the horror films we often see these days,” Bharath Reddy added.

Bayam Oru Payanam has been shot in Munnar, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The technical crew of the film includes cinematographer I Andrew, music director YR Prasad, art director Karthik Rajkumar, editor L.V.K.Dass, dance choreographer Shankar, and stunt choreographer ‘Stunner’ Sam.

The team expects to release the film in August.
