Bhavesh Joshi Superhero Trailer Out: Starring Harshvardhan Kapoor, Social Justice Is Served Minus The Cape

With edgy background music, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero‘s trailer starts off on a fun note: Three friends discussing India’s first graphic novel. Unlike most Hindi film trailers, this one doesn’t solely focus on the hero or his heroics in the beginning. Just three friends, in casual clothes and debating whether Ra.One or G.One was Mumbai’s first superhero.

In a country plagued with corruption, like most youths of today, the three friends engage in activism and talk about getting rid of corruption. “We think corruption is shit. And shit stinks,” they say.

True to their words, they take their activism to another level and become vigilantes, beginning with small things – halting those urinating on the road, stopping people from cutting trees or littering. They make it to YouTube, and with their masks made out of paper bags, nothing menacing about them.

But they catch the politicians’ attention and soon enough, the trailer takes a dark turn with one of the friends taking his vigilante aspirations one step further. A stylish neon-lit mask and a bike to go with it, he learns fighting and is seen breaking jaws and bones of the bad guys.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the man behind the brilliant Udaan, Lootera, and Trapped, this film appears to be something different yet promising, even though the entire story appears to be out in the 2 minute 49 second trailer. The film also stars Nishikant Kamat, Priyanshu Painyuli, Ashish Verma and Shreiyah Sabharwal, with music by Amit Trivedi.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Vikramaditya said, “The idea basically started from the frustration of living in our country. We all love India but there are times when you just feel like – though it is not the right thing – you just feel ‘ek thappad mar do’. That’s where the idea of vigilantism came from.”

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero will be Harshvardhan’s second film after his debut, Mirzya. The film is slated to release on May 25.
