Shah Rukh Khan considers himself for the best Speaker-in-Circles Award

With a number of interesting films gearing up for release, the year 2015-16 is likely to be an exciting one for Bollywood fans. The low-down on the most-awaited Bollywood films:

1. Brothers: August 14

The film, directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar, has Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra playing the lead roles. It is an official remake of the Hollywood film, Warriors.

Phantom: August 28

Directed by Kabir Khan, this political thriller has Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Reportedly, the screenplay of the film is an adaptation of the book, Mumbai Avengers. 

3. Welcome Back: September 4

The ensemble cast of the blockbuster comedy-drama Welcome reprises their roles, along with John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in this sequel, directed by Aneez Bazmee.

4. Katti Batti – September 18

This rom-com, directed by Nikhil Advani, has a fresh new pair in the lead – Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut. The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapoor.

5. Calendar Girls – September 25

Madhur Bhandarkar is back with yet another show-biz story – this time about five girls from different parts of India, who get selected to pose for a prestigious calendar shoot. The film is co-produced by Sangeeta Ahir and Bhandarkar Entertainment.

6. Singh Is Bliing: October 2

Prabhu Deva is back and this time, he has Akshay Kumar with him. The film, directed by the actor-director-choreographer, has  Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Amy Jackson, Vivek Oberoi, Arfi Lamba and Anil Mange in the lead.

7. Jazbaa: October 9

Jazbaa grabbed headlines as soon as the project was announced, thanks to Aiswarya Rai who is making a comeback through this action-drama. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, this film has Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi playing pivotal roles.

8. Tamasha: November 27

The film, directed by Imitiaz Ali, has the much-adored onscreen couple Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead. Like Ali’s previous flicks Rockstar and Highway, this one too has music scored by AR Rahman.

9. Wazir: December 4

Wazir, directed by Bijoy Nambiar, has Amitabh Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Farhan Akhtar and John Abraham in the lead. The film’s racy trailer was an instant hit on social media networks.

10. Bajirai Mastani: December 18

Produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this romantic-drama from a pre-independence era, has Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

11. Dilwale : December 18

Shah Rukh Khan joins hands with his most popular co-star Kajol in this film which is directed Rohit Shetty. It also has has Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon playing pivotal roles.

12. Airlift: January 22, 2016

The first major release in 2016 is Raja Krishna Menon’s Airlift, an edgy thriller which recounts one of the biggest human evacuations in the history. Set in the backdrop of the Gulf War in 1990, the film has Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur playing the lead roles.

13. Fan: April 15

Shah Rukh Khan’s first release in 2016 is Fan, directed by Maneesh Sharma. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.

Eid 2016: Raees and Sultan

Next Eid, SRK’s Raees and Salman Khan’s Sultan will clash at the box office. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees has Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the lead roles. And the seemingly odd pairing has already piqued a lot of interest. Salman’s Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafarhas Kriti Sanon playing the female lead. Reportedly, Salman plays a boxer in this film.

16. Mohenjo Daro: August 12, 2016

Bollywood’s ‘Greek god’ Hrithik Roshan’s epic adventure-romance film Mohenjo Daro has the actor joining hands with Jodhaa Akbar director Ashutosh Gowarikar for a second time. The film is jointly produced by Gowarikar and Disney India, and has music composed by AR Rahman.
