Now that Suriya’s Singam 3 has been postponed from its original release date of 23 December, smaller films like Bongu and D16 have raced to take the spot. Natty’s Bongu and Rahman’s thriller Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru will now release on December 30. Meanwhile, Vishal Krishna’s Kaththi Sandai with Tamannaah Bhatia will release on 23 December.
Bongu stars Natty Natraj, a cinematographer-turned-actor who wears coloured contacts and drives supercars in this road film. Directed by debutant Taj, the film has Ruhi Singh as the female lead. Natty decided that the New Year weekend would be ideal for his solo film.
Meanwhile, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru or D16 has lead actor Rahman investigating strange occurrences. The film is directed by 23-year-old Karthick Naren. Jakes Bejoy takes care of the music, while Sujith Sarang is the cinematographer. Dream Factory will be marketing and distributing this film.
