Case Against Award-Winning Kaakka Muttai

Director Manikandan’s Kaakka Muttai has been making waves since its release. Recently, a case has been filed by S Manivannan, President of the All India Bar of Advocates Welfare Association, against the Kaakka Muttai team, for undermining the image of lawyers in the movie. A Metropolitan Magistrate Court has subsequently summoned producers Dhanush and Vetri Maaran, director Manikandan, and actress Aishwarya Rajesh on August 6.

According to S Manivannan’s complaint, the grandmother character in Kaakka Muttai makes substandard remarks about lawyers, which might trigger feelings of hatred in the minds of the viewers.

Kaakka Muttai, which was made with a budget of Rs 80 lakhs, has raked in over Rs 20 crores. With such resounding success, the film has squashed the idea of National award winning films never becoming commercially viable. The movie has music composed by GV Prakash, and features child artists Ramesh and Vignesh, along with actress Aishwarya Rajesh.
