Case Against Hansika Motwani To Be Heard On Friday

The case filed against actress Hansika Motwani over the first look poster of her film Maha is up for hearing on Friday at Ranipet court in Vellore. The case was filed as the film’s poster featured Hansika smoking wearing saffron clothes.

The first look poster, which was released on Sunday, features sadhus lying at her feet, against the backdrop of Varanasi.

Directed by debutant UR Jameel, Maha marks Hansika’s 50th film, and features actor Srikanth in a pivotal role. The film also stars Karunakaran and Thambi Ramaiah in supporting roles. The music for the film is composed by Ghibran, for whom Maha marks the 25th project. Madhan Karky has written lyrics.

While the film is said to be a woman-oriented crime thriller, not much has been revealed about the plot yet.

Talking about Srikanth’s role in the film, the director told The Times Of India: “He plays an important role and the character offers him ample scope to perform. It is a character that comes with an element of surprise and also demands a bit of a physical transformation. It will be a new look altogether.”

Denying speculations that the actor’s role was that of a villain, the director said, “No, this will be a nice role for Srikanth. Also, something that hasn’t been done previously by him. When I wrote the character, I felt that he would be apt for it as he hasn’t done something like this.” He added that Srikanth’s first look will be revealed in the coming days.

Hansika was last seen in Gulaebaghavali, her only release this year thus far. She will next feature in Thuppakki Munai opposite Vikram Prabhu directed by Dinesh Selvaraj. The film hits theatres this Friday. She also stars opposite Atharvaa in the action thriller 100, directed by Sam Anton of Darling fame.

Recently, actor Vijay faced heat from various political and government bodies for smoking and drinking in films.
