Castration Is The Only Way To Deal With Rapists, Says Actress Meera Jasmine

Rapists and those who sexually assault women should be dealt with painful punishments like “castration”, said actress Meera Jasmine said at a recent press conference. Rajeswari, the mother of Jisha who was brutally raped and killed in Perumbavoor in Kerala this year, and actor Anoop Menon were with Meera at the press meet which was organised as part of the release of 10 Kalpanakal, a new film on sexual crimes, directed by Don Max.

The existing laws are not adequate to deal with sexual crimes, said Meera. “Those who are sexually attacking women should be given painful punishment and castration is the only way to deal with such persons. If such persons are given painful punishment, they will never dare to touch a woman in their life,” the actress added.

Through 10 Kalpanakal, Meera, who had taken a brief break after wedding, is making a comeback to films. She is playing the role of a police officer in the film which hit the screens on November 25.

Rajeswari said that she was waiting for the day Ameer ul-Islam, the man accused of raping and killing her daughter, gets a death sentence. “He took just a few seconds to kill my daughter. But I am not sure when the legal proceedings would be over,” she said.
