Catherine Tresa Joins Sundar C’s Film With Silambarasan

Catherine Tresa has been roped in to play one of the female leads in Sundar C’s next film starring Simbu. A remake of the 2013 Pawan Kalyan starrer Attarintiki Daredi, the crew has already completed shooting the first schedule in Georgia.

Tresa, who has finished shooting for Neeya 2, featuring Jai and Raai Laxmi alongside her, joins hands with Sundar C after starring in this year’s Kalakalappu 2. Incidentally, the movie happens to be the most recent release for both of them.

In the new film, Tresa will reportedly be essaying the role of Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s character from the original while Megha Akash will play the role Pranitha Subhesh had.

The remake rights for the Trivikram-directed Attarintiki Daredi was bought by Lyca Productions in July this year. The story of the film largely revolves around a grandson’s promise to his grandfather to reunite him with his estranged daughter.

The makers have finished shooting a couple of songs as well as Simbu’s introduction song. The actor, whose Chekka Chivantha Vaaanam is currently playing in theatres, has been appreciated for his performance in the movie. He will also commence work on Venkat Prabhu’s political thriller Manaadu soon.

Meanwhile, Lyca Productions is gearing up for the release of their magnum opus 2.0. A reported budget of over 500 crores makes it India’s most expensive movie till date. Directed by Shankar and starring Rajnikanth in the lead, the long-delayed project is finally releasing over the Deepavali weekend on November 29. That the role of the antagonist is played by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has got the viewers hooked to the movie. The female lead is played by Amy Jackson.

Apart from upcoming movies like Vada Chennai and Shankar’s Kamal Hassan starrer Indian 2, Lyca Movies is also bankrolling Surya’s upcoming project. Titled Surya 37, the movie marks the actor’s third collaboration with director K V Anand after Ayan and Maattraan.
