Subhash, the son of yesteryear director Krishnan (Of Panchu – Krishnan fame),  made his directorial debut with the Prabhu starrer Kaliyugam.

He began his film career by assisting Mani Ratnam on Nayagan. PC Sreeraam, cinematographer of the film, remembers Subhash as an energetic young man, eager to learn the ropes of filmmaking. “He was everywhere. He wanted to learn everything. Ours was a young, energetic team and amongst us, he was the most vibrant, exhuberant. It is frightening to know that so much talent and exuberance was quashed out just like that. Even during his most difficult times, his eyes still held that passion and fire. It’s sad to no longer be able to see that.”

Producer Dhananjayan G took to Twitter to express his condolences.

Actor Mohan Raman registered his shock at Subhash’s sudden passing.

Besides directing films like Chathriyan, Nesam, and Suyamvaram, Subash worked as an associate director with Hindi filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. He made his Hindi debut with Insan starring Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. Subhash also wrote the screenplay for SRK’s Chennai Express and Dilwale.
