The first look poster of Coffee was released by the makers on social media recently. Coffee is produced by Sarathy Sathish, with Darshan Krishna serving as the co-producer.
Sai Krishna, who is making his directorial debut with Coffee, has also written the script of the film. Krishna, an engineer-turned-director, said about Coffee, “It is a fictional tale but documents true events that take place in our society. Coffee revolves around a brother and sister. The sister aspires to become a police officer. Due to circumstances, however, she fails to become one. She then works hard to educate her brother. The brother later gets a job, but lands in trouble and goes missing. The rest of the film is about her rescue mission to save her brother.”
The director wrote the script for Coffee in 2019 and the film went on floors in mid-2019. After a hiatus to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, the film was wrapped up in 2021 and is currently in the final stages of post-production. “As per the story, the film is set in Chennai and Bengaluru. Most of the portions take place in Bengaluru,” the director mentioned.
The film’s technical crew consists of Venkatesh S as the cinematographer, Prasana Bala handling music, and Venkat Rajan handling the edit. Bala has composed two songs for the film, and two promotional songs.
Apart from Ineya, the film also features Rahul Dev, Mugdha Godse, Soundar, Dharani Vasudevan, among others in prominent roles. Ineya and debutant actor Hemanth have acted as the siblings. “We approached many people, but with Ineya, we found that it will be a powerful comeback for her,” he added.
The team of Coffee is looking to release the film in 2021 but still has not yet scheduled a date of release.
