Vishal At The Sandakozhi 2 Audio Launch

A complaint has been lodged against director VC Vadivudaiyan by producer Suresh Kothari for allegedly cheating him of Rs 47 lakh after promising to direct a film starring Vishal. Vadivudayan has refuted the allegation saying he made no such promise and does not know who Suresh Kothari is.

Vadivudayan is the director of Thambi Vettothi Sundaram, Sowcarpet, Pottu and Kanniyum Kalaiyum Semma Kaadhal, which awaits release. The complaint against him has been filed by Suresh Kothari at the Virugambakkam police station in Chennai.

According to a report by Filmibeat, Kothari said in his complaint that Vaidivudayan narrated the story for a film with Rs 7 crore budget, and claimed he had already got actor Vishal’s call sheet for the film. It is not known if they signed a contract, and what the terms of this contract are. But reports say Kothari was impressed with his story and paid him Rs 47 lakh in three installments.

The producer has alleged that nearly a year has passed and Vadivudayan did not make the film or return the amount. When Kothari enquired with Vishal, the actor said he did not know of any such film. The producer then approached the Virugambakkam police with the complaint and the matter is being investigated.

Director Vadivudayan issued a press statement today, refuting all the allegations and stating that he is being misused in connection with another case of borrowed money.

He said, “Since this morning, false news about me has been airing on TV and in social media. It is not true that Suresh Kothari paid me Rs 47 lakh to make a film with Vishal, which I am yet to return, and for which he has filed a police complaint against me. I don’t know who Suresh Kothari is. There is no connection between us.

Last year, I borrowed Rs 3 lakh from a person named Ashok Lodha, for which I handed over a blank cheque and a signed document. I repaid this amount, with interest. However, Ashok Lodha refused to return the blank cheque and document to me. I sued him in the 6th City Civil Court in Chennai and this case is still pending.

My doubts are that Ashok Lodha has handed over the blank cheque to Suresh Kothari who has misused it and is now claiming that I borrowed Rs 47 lakh from him.

I will take legal action against those who spread such false messages to tarnish my image and name.”
