“When he (director Advait Chandan) narrated the film, I was crying as the script was just brilliant, but I genuinely didn’t have any time. I said no and I was very sad about it,” he says, adding that he approved of his replacement Amit Trivedi and lyricist Kausar Munir. “I feel Amit will be able to do justice and Kausar is the mother of a daughter. It’s an amazing combination.”

Secret Superstar stars Zaira Wasim and Aamir Khan, where the former plays a school-going teenager who wants to be a rockstar but is stopped from doing so by her father. So she forms her own YouTube channel where she plays her own compositions without revealing her identity. The film is slated for an October 19 release.

Incidentally, Pritam had scored the music for Zaira Wasim’s debut film Dangal. After handling three grueling projects one after the other, with the last being Jab Harry Met Sejal, the composer took to social media to announce that he would stay away from work for a year and half. He also promised to return with newer and better projects.

In his interview with Scroll, he said that most people had misunderstood his announcement. “I said that I will take a very short break that can be 15 days, a month or two months, and whichever film I sign will come out after one year or a year and half later, not before that,” he says.

It has only been eight months since 2017 began, but Pritam has four films to his credit already. Namely, RaabtaTubelightJagga Jasoos, and Jab Harry Met Sejal, even though he had requested that he not be credited for Raabta.
