British director Danny Boyle pulled out of the new James Bond movie citing creative differences. Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli along with the current Bond star Daniel Craig tweeted out the decision through the official Bond Twitter handle.

The movie was supposed to go on floors this December and had a release date fixed for October next year. Craig and Boyle had previously worked together on the opening ceremony of London 2012 Olympics where the duo presented a spoof of the iconic British Spy.
When the producers announced in May this year to hand over the reins of the 25th Bond movie to the 61-year old Academy Award winning director, the fans had gone into a frenzy. The director who enjoys a cult status after having directed movies like Shallow Grave, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later was expected to bring a breath of fresh air to the franchise, quoted the BBC.

This was cemented by Boyle’s decision to bring on board screenwriter and his regular collaborator John Hodge. The franchise has been using the same team of screenwriters since the 1999 The World Is Not Enough.
With Boyle having left the project, the makers are yet to find a replacement.
The franchise has constantly been making headlines of late. Idris Elba had recently put out a cryptic tweet suggesting he was going to take over the role.

However, in a subsequent tweet, he cleared the air regarding this.

He even responded with a firm ‘No’ when he was asked by a reporter at a recent event if she was looking at the next James Bond.
Rumours have been rife over the replacement of Craig. The actor, who will be essaying the character for the fifth time with the upcoming movie starting from 2006’s Casino Royale, has already announced that this was going to be his last outing. Apart from Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Henry Cavil are touted as potential replacements for Craig.
