David Tennant Will Voice Scrooge McDuck In Disney’s Duck Tales Reboot

David Tennant will voice-act in the reboot of Disney’s popular television series Duck Tales. The actor joins a cast that includes Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan.

Tennant will play Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck’s gruff Scottish uncle. Rich beyond imagination, Scrooge spends his time alternately berating his mischievous young grand nephews and making every attempt to protect them. The character is hugely popular, and has spawned a rich mythology

David Tennant rose to fame for his portrayal of Time Lord in BBC’s Doctor Who. He followed this up with roles in Broadchurch (Alec Hardy) and Harry Potter (Barty Crouch Jr) and as the evil Kilgrave in Netflix’s Jessica Jones.

Duck Tales will premiere in 2017. The original show was based on the cartoon character Scrooge McDuck by American cartoonist Carl Barks, who had in turn drawn his inspiration from the character Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol.
