Deepika Padukone Does Not Want To Be Compared To Sonam Kapoor

While Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan strutted down the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, dressed in their fashionable best, a lot of foreign medias mistook Sonam for Deepika. This appears to be the second incident where two dissimilar looking Indian celebrities were mistaken for each other.

Apart from passing the actresses for each other, several media houses have resorted to pitting both Deepika and Sonam against each other.

Reacting to this, Deepika tells Mid Day that she doesn’t want to be compared to Sonam or Aishwarya. “This is an incredible platform to showcase our talent and represent a brand or a movie. We all are such strong individuals and I don’t see any overlap,” she said.

Speaking to Indian Express about comparison, she said, “The comparisons are not in my head, it is what the media is doing. So they have to decide whether it is fair or unfair because they are the ones pitting one woman against the other whereas they should be celebrating all of them. That’s not me, it is on somebody else, I don’t consider this culture, I consider this foolishness. I don’t even indulge in it.”

Incidentally, earlier this year, Deepika had said that comparisons with her Bollywood colleague Priyanka Chopra were unfair. Speaking to USA Today, Deepika said they had followed different paths and drawing comparisons between them was unnecessary.
