Dhanush, Junior NTR, Aamir Khan are among the top winners at the inaugural Shankarabharanam Awards.
The Shankarabharanam Awards was constituted by actress Tulsi, in honour of the filmmaker K Vishwanath, who made the classic Telugu film, Shankarabharanam. The awards are given to stars and artists from the five major Indian film industries – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
Tulsi told IANS, “My guru and mentor Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, K Vishwanath has worked with both the northern and southern industries in his illustrious career. He stands for the unity of our cinema, a beautiful aesthetic medium that knows no boundaries of geography or language.”
“We have four categories across industries this year. This is because we had less time to organise the event this year. From next year, we will plan much in advance with a more uniform list,” she added. The awards will have a longer list of awardees from the Telugu cinema industry, including technicians and support services.
Indian Express reports that the actress confirmed the winners.
