Actor Dhanush’s film with director Karthik Subbaraj will be revived soon. The film was announced over two years ago, and the pre-production work is complete.
A source close to the film told Silverscreen that the project has not been shelved. “The shoot will begin soon. Dhanush is busy with the final schedule of Asuran right now. He will move to the second schedule of his film with director Durai Senthilkumar after this. The Karthik Subbaraj directorial will begin after these complete.”
While the source says no starting date can be given as yet, reports have it that shoot will begin in August in the US with a 60-day schedule.
The project couldn’t take off in 2017 as the team wanted to bring in Hollywood actor Al Pacino for an important role. They approached him but he didn’t have dates available so both Dhanush and Karthik Subbaraj moved on to other projects. It is likely that Al Pacino will join the team soon.
This is Karthik Subbaraj’s next after Rajinikanth-starrer Petta. The film was originally supposed to be produced by Sri Thenandal Films, but the producer has reportedly changed now.
Meanwhile, Dhanush also confirmed at a press meet recently that he will reunite with his brother director Selvaraghavan after eight years, for a film produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Dhanush’s second film Kadhal Kondein in 2003 was by Selvaraghavan and they later worked on the hits Pudhupettai (2006) and Mayakkam Enna (2011).
Dhanush, last seen in The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir, is currently busy with the final leg of shoot for director Vetrimaaran’s Asuran. The film co-stars Manju Warrier as the lead. Dhanush plays a double role, as a father and son, and reports say that one of his characters is a daily wage worker. The story, based on writer Poomani’s novel Vekkai, is about a man avenging his father’s death. The film has music by GV Prakash, and Dhanush has also sung one of the songs in the album.
The second schedule of shoot for the Durai Senthilkumar directorial is likely to begin in August. The film stars Sneha as one of the female leads and Mehreen Pirzada also recently came on board.
