Actor and producer Dhanush, who is making his directorial debut with the movie Power Paandi, told reporters that the film was about embracing love and positivity, reported Deccan Chronicle via PTI.
Speaking to reporters, Dhanush said, “In life, there is good, evil, love and hatred. What we desire, choose, and need to pursue is in our hands. ‘Power Paandi’ is about the outcome of embracing love, peacefulness, and positivity around us.”
Veteran actor Rajkiran will play the titular role. Dhanush said he had been a fan of the actor since his appearance in Dhanush’s father’s directorial En Raasavin Manasule in 1991. Dhanush also said that he used to imitate Rajkiran’s mannerisms as a child, and that it was a “dream come true” to direct him.
He added that when approached, Rajkiran had accepted his role without even reading the script.
Dhanush also said that he was stunned with Revathi’s power-packed performance in the film. He said, “Revathi madam is a legend, and I have seen young actresses set her performance as a benchmark. I was curious to see the magic she will bring in front of the camera. Just an hour into the shoot, she stunned me with her performance. The filmmaker in her imbibed everything effortlessly. She is an asset to the movie.”
Revathi said that she had a sense of satisfaction in spite of her limited screen presence in the movie. She said, “In the last ten years, I have taken up acting projects only in two Tamil films: Amma Kanakku and Power Paandi, both for Dhanush.”
Power Paandi has music composed by Sean Rolden. Dhanush said he was extremely happy with the outcome. He said, “His knowledge of music is extensive. He is a real blessing to this film, and his music is the soul of the movie.”
The film has been produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and also stars Chaya Singh, Prasanna, Vidyu Raman and Robo Shankar in pivotal roles. Additionally, Madonna Sebastian, film-maker Gautham Menon and Dhanush will have extended cameo appearances.
Power Paandi is scheduled to release on 14 April.
