Dhruv Vikram’s ‘Varmaa’ Release Postponed

Dhruv Vikram’s debut movie Varmaa, the remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, has been postponed due to a delay in getting clearance from the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). The movie was originally planned as a February 14 release, and will now be out by the end of March.

In addition to Varmaa, a few other film films are also awaiting clearance by the board. This situation has arisen because of the resignation of the AWBI president S.P. Gupta two days back.

Talking to Silverscreen, the producer of the movie Mukesh R Mehta said, “Yes, the movie will not be releasing on the planned date. The shifting of the AWBI office from Chennai to Chandigarh has also contributed to the delay in getting clearance from them. Also, we are yet to obtain certificate from censor board.”

“We think we’ll have clarity regarding the new release date within the next 10 days. We are hoping to get the movie out by the end of March,” he added.

Varmaa is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Devarakonda became a huge success after its release. The director is currently working with Shahid Kapoor on the Hindi remake of the film titled Kabir Singh.

Varmaa is directed by the National Award winning filmmaker Bala. For his film Pithamagan, Vikram bagged the National Award for Best Actor. 16 years later, the actor’s son is making his debut with the director.

Varmaa features debut actor Megha alongside Dhruv Vikram. Raiza Wilson of Pyaar Prema Kadhal fame essays the role of the film star played by Jia Sharma in the original. The movie also features Easwari Rao and Jai Bala. Music for the movie has been composed by Radhan and cinematography is by M Sukumar.

Mukesh R Mehta produces the film under the banner E4Entertainment.
