Director-Producer Arumugakumar Becomes First Indian Member Of ‘Tamil Film Content And India Market Committee’ Of Malaysian Film Board

Director-Producer P Arumugakumar is the first and only Indian to become a member of the Tamil Film Content and India Market Committee of the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia. The Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Sollren director will now be involved in making decisions for the Malaysian film industry, be it the promotion of filming in the country or provision of financial assistance and equipment for filmmakers.

The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, abbreviated FINAS, is the central government agency for the Malaysian film industry. On Friday, Arumugakumar took to Twitter to announce the news.

Though the news was announced only recently, Arumugakumar was appointed by the board on June 19 and will remain a member of the committee until May 22, 2022.

It is also noteworthy that V Senthil Kumar, the co-founder of Chennai-based Qube Cinema Technologies, was also recently invited to be one of the ‘Members-At-Large’ at The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. He is reportedly the first South Indian to be invited to the community.

Arumugakumar’s 7C’s Entertainment Pvt Ltd Productions and 7Cs Pte Ltd deal in production and distribution, former operating in Chennai and the latter in Singapore. Currently, the Chennai banner is bankrolling the Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan starrer Laabam that is due for release.

Meanwhile, his 2018 debut film Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Sollren was an adventure dramedy film starring Vijay Sethupathi, Gautham Karthik, Niharika Konidela, Gayathrie, and Ramesh Thilak.
