Director Ravikumar Rajendran Recovers From Covid-19, Urges Public Not to Ignore Symptoms

Ravikumar Rajendran, the Tamil director who recently recovered from Covid-19, shared his experience of battling the infection on social media and urged the public not to ignore Covid-19 related symptoms.

Ravikumar stated that he had taken all precautions and had no symptoms yet the deadly virus did not spare him. The director said that he had a runny nose which he thought was a regular allergy.

“But out of suspicion, I took CBC, CRP, d-dimer tests. The results revealed that my CRP was 26,” he said, adding that his doctor Varaprasad confirmed that he had contracted Covid-19. As per the doctor’s advice, Ravikumar was under home isolation and took prescribed medicines.

“I was worried about my three-year-old daughter Narumugai and wife Priya who were near me. The next day everyone took the swab test and Narumugai turned positive. Dr Varaprasad gave us great confidence and prescribed syrups to Narumugai,” he said. Ravikumar who took a swab test 14 days after medication tested negative for Covid-19.  He thanked his wife, helpers and doctors for supporting him during these difficult times.

“It is very important to get a blood test/swab immediately without ignoring the symptoms. The first seven days after getting infected are the most crucial days. It is necessary to take medicines during that period,” he said urging the people to not have preconceived notions that they will not get infected and delay the testing process.

“Many of my friends and relatives have been affected by Covid-19. I just have one thing to say to my loved ones; If there’s a slightest doubt get tested immediately and don’t delay visiting the doctors. We shall overcome,” he said.

Ravikumar rose to fame after his directorial debut Indru Netru Naalai (2015), a Tamil science-fiction comedy. The film featured Vishu Vishal, Miya Karunakaran TM Karthik and Jayaprakash among others. He earlier worked as an associate to director Nalan Kumarasamy in Soodhu Kavvum (2013). Ravikumar was a participant in Naalaya Iyakunar, a TV reality show for budding directors.

Ravikumar’s upcoming film Ayalaan will feature Rakul Preet Singh, Sharad Kelkar and Isha Koppikar in the pivotal roles. While the film’s music is composed by AR Rahman, the cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah and editing by Ruben.
