Director Suseenthiran On Tamil Nadu State Awards: ‘Disappointed My Films Didn’t Win’

Suseenthiran, State Film Awards

Director Suseenthiran is glad that the Tamil Nadu government has revived the Annual State Film Awards, but disappointed that none of his films made the cut.

Yesterday, the Tamil Nadu government announced the winners of the State Film Awards for the years 2009-2014. The annual award was regularly announced till the year 2008, when it was stopped. Director Suseenthiran shared a hand-written letter on his Twitter account, in which he expressed disappointment that the selection committee had not selected any of his films for the award.

Suseenthiran says, in his letter:

“I heartily thank TN CM Edapadi Pazhanisamy for announcing the TN State Film Awards after a long gap. I also express my disappointment to the selection committee, which did not consider any of my films worthy of any of the award categories. Particularly, my National Award winning film Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai, and the popular, and much loved Naan Magaan Alla. In the category for Best Climax Fight [award given to Vande Maataram], I am very surprised that Anal Arasu (stunt director) was not selected.

I congratulate my friends and colleagues from the industry who’ve won the awards.”

Director Suseenthiran is currently working on a Tamil-Telugu bilingualAram Seidhu Pazhagu. He will be directing Sundeep Kishan and Mehreen Kaur in what will be his debut film in Telugu.
