Directors Can Register Their Scripts With the Union: Vikraman

Recommended

In wake of the plagiarism controversy surrounding Kaththidirector Vikraman has announced that henceforth, assistant directors can register their stories and scripts with the director’s union. Late last month, Gopi Nainar, an assistant director, accused AR Murugadoss of stealing the idea behind Kaththi and claimed that the story was a direct copy of the one he had narrated to the director.

Speaking at the birthday celebrations of veteran director Mithradass, he said, “We’ve been keeping track of the developments on the plagiarism issue and we’re worried about this trend. Established filmmakers do sometimes take advantage of less established ones. It is a tragic thing; so we’re trying to come up with ways to safeguard the ideas of assistant directors. We will put together a process soon, hopefully.”
