Dulquer Salmaan returns to Malayalam cinema with Oru Yemandan Premakadha, which releases in March. The actor’s previous Malayalam release was the 2017 film Solo.
Directed by BC Noufal, Oru Yamandan Prema Katha features Nikhila Vimal and Samyuktha Menon as the female leads. The movie is written by Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George, who have written films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattapanayile Hrithik Roshan.
The shoot for the film kicked off in July last year, and the actor shared a photo from the set. He was seen with the writer-duo Soubin Shahir and an elderly man, about whom he wrote, “If you’re all wondering who the other fine gent right next to me is, he’s one of the boatmen helping us with shoot! And I kid you not, his name is Sputnik! How epic a name is that? He was born a year after Russia launched Sputnik 1 into orbit in ‘57. So his folks named him Sputnik. Was the highlight of my day! (sic).”
According to a Madhyamam report, Dulquer Salmaan plays the role of a painting worker in the movie.

The actor has rarely played a character hailing from a modest background. Barring Salala Mobiles, Jomonte Suvisheshangal, and his guest role in Parava, he has mostly played characters from affluent families.
This year, Salmaan is likely to have a release in every major language. Oru Yemandan Prema Katha is his Malayalam release, and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal releases in Tamil. After Karwaan, his Hindi debut last year, Zoya Factor, starring him as a cricketer will release soon. He plays the lead with Sonam Kapoor in the film, which is based on a book of the same name written by Anuja Chauhan.
Meanwhile, the actor revealed that the shoot for Oru Yamandan Premakatha is almost over with only a song left to film.
