Dwayne Johnson – The Rock – May Run For President

Dwayne Johnson President

Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as ‘The Rock’, has said that his running for president of the United States is a real possibility. Speaking to GQ magazine, Dwayne said that he first thought the idea funny and interesting, but it has grown upon him. He said, “A year ago, it started coming up more and more. There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, ‘Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.’ I didn’t want to be flippant—’We’ll have three days off for a weekend! No taxes!'”

Early last year, the Washington Post carried an article that said that Johnson could be a viable candidate. Dwayne himself had tweeted it out:

While Dwayne has not made any policy announcements, wishes, or pronounced his verdict on US politics so far, he has said “the most important thing right now is strong honest leadership from our current and future leaders of this country.”

In the GQ interview, he says, “When there’s a disagreement, and you have a large group of people that you’re in a disagreement with — for example, the media — I feel like it informs me that I could be better. We all have issues, and we all gotta work our (crap) out.”

“(Disagreement) informs us. The responsibility as president — I take responsibility for everyone. Especially when you disagree with me. If there’s a large number of people disagreeing, there might be something I’m not seeing, so let me see it. Let me understand it,” he adds.

As one of the highest paid movie stars in the world, and one of the most bankable ones (his films have earned close to USD 1.5 billion in total), Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has the charisma and fan base – his Instagram account has 86 million followers – to make him a serious contender when and if he does decide to run for office.

The Fate Of The Furious, the latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchisee, is doing very well at the box-office. Meanwhile, Johnson is also waiting for the release of Baywatch, a film based on the TV show of the same name.
